It feels as though we are having to make too many sad announcements lately. On Wednesday 17th June Thelma Alexandra LUDWICK (1929 - 2009), another of George PHILPOTT's great-granddaughters, passed away. She had been seriously ill for some time. However, she continued to live in her own home with some support from the medical profession, including occasional visits to hospital, but especially with the support of her grandson Leo, who lives locally. Thelma was a very lively and sparky lady, excellent company and very witty. She was also completely determined and independent. In fact no one knows how she got away with living alone for so long in the face of so much good advice to the contrary.
All our thoughts and good wishes go to Guy, Leo and their partners.

Many of the articles in 'The Times' online archive concern national events not directly relevant to family history. However, the court reports, then as now, are sometimes fun in a weird kind of way. On one of my many trawls through, looking on this occasion for references to 'Great Waltham', Essex, I found a weird and amusing piece about the Great Waltham poorhouse, dating from 1829. Names are mentioned, but they are not related to Edwina's Family Tree. Look under the VIEW ARTICLES section, where I have posted this article. My own title for it is, 'We Want To Work', because it had no title when it originally appeared in 'The Times'.
